What is a Nurse Practitioner?
A Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse who has additional responsibilities for administering patient care than RNs. NPs can prescribe medication, examine patients, diagnose illnesses, and provide treatment, much like physicians do. Their experience as working nurses gives them a unique approach to patient care, while their advanced studies qualify them to take on additional duties that are usually left to physicians.NPs are required to hold either a Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing and be Certified by the National Association of Nurse Practitioners as well as hold a license to practice in the state in which they provide care.
What is a Physician Assistant?
Physician Assistants are medical providers who diagnose illnesses, develop and manage treatment plans, prescribe medications, and often serve as a patient’s principal healthcare professional. With thousands of hours of medical training, PAs are versatile and collaborative. PAs practice in every state and in every medical setting and specialty, improving healthcare access and quality.
Will I see a Medical Doctor while I am a patient at LEAP?
While we have a Physician who is on staff and is available for consultations, you will not see a Medical Doctor while you are a patient at LEAP. All direct medical care will be provided by either a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant.
Are the providers at LEAP in network with any insurance companies?
We are not ‘in network’ with any insurance companies and therefore reimbursement for your medical claims will be as an ‘out of network’ provider. After your visit with a LEAP provider we will supply you with a detailed invoice to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement for the services we provide.
Why does LEAP choose to not accept insurance?
At LEAP we do not wish to have restrictions placed upon your personalized care and therefore we do not directly bill your insurance. We will give you the tools to submit your claim to your insurance for potential reimbursement.
What is Telemedicine?
Telemedicine is a HIPAA compliant video platform that allows for a medical visit to occur without having to come to the office. This is a service available to established patients only and for reasons that do not require a physical exam. Examples of this would include nutrition counseling, osteoporosis management, contraception counseling, and diagnostic result review. It can be conducted using any web-enabled device that has a camera.
Do you see children?
At this time, we see patients aged 18 and older.
Will I have labs drawn at my visit?
We do not currently perform phlebotomy on site. We hold accounts with several major labs that have Patient Service Centers near by. We will work with you to determine which your insurance carrier prefers.
What is
Integrated Health?
An integrated approach to care considers multiple factors that affect health such as genetics, lifestyle, environment, nutrition, stress, sleep, and family dynamic. It recognizes the interdependence of the mind~body~spirit connection and works to address imbalances collectively. This model seeks to discover the source(s) or root cause of illness and create an environment that allows for self-healing and reconnection. It honors the wisdom of traditional western medicine while understanding that many conditions that we struggle with today require more than a prescription to treat.
